Business Editors

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2003

Fiserv, Inc. (NASDAQ:FISV) said W. R. Berkley Corporation (NYSE:BER) of Greenwich, Connecticut, has installed the Fiserv Claims Workstation system for three of its companies writing property-casualty insurance.

The Claims Workstation system manages the entire life cycle of claims at the three Berkley companies. The system improves claims service by providing information when adjusters and other claims personnel need it and also by relieving personnel of non-productive tasks more efficiently handled with automation.

"The business rules engine and the flexible data capturing capabilities of the system helped drive the decision to purchase Claims Workstation," said Ken McKinion, Vice President of Information Technology Operations for W. R. Berkley Corporation. "Additionally, our ability to have multiple companies use Claims Workstation minimizes the issues that arise from supporting multiple systems. Claims Workstation provides a consolidated system that is versatile enough, through the configuration process, to address specific needs of an individual company."

"W. R. Berkley Corporation zeroed in on the flexibility of Claims Workstation right away," said Tony Perdichezzi, President of the Fiserv Administrative Solutions Division. "The powerful system administration module and integrated business rules engine allow each company to maximize the system for their business needs."
