Vic: New police traffic op to blitz speeding drivers over Xmas

Speeding drivers will be targeted in Victoria's largest-ever traffic operation over
Christmas and the New Year.

More than three thousand officers will flood the state's roads from Friday as part
of Operation Aegis .. in a bid to reduce Victoria's deadly road toll.

Last year 17 people were killed on Victorian roads over the holiday period .. while
15 people died during Christmas-New Year the year before.

Police say they'll also crack down on drink and drug-affected drivers .. as well as
fatigue .. driving without seatbelts and using mobile phones while driving.
