FED:Gillard gets carbon pledge gift
Thousands of protesters and the federal opposition have delivered Prime Minister JULIA
Gillard a raucous gift on the anniversary of her promise not to introduce a carbon tax.
At a rally outside parliament in Canberra, Opposition Leader TONY ABBOTT said people
don't want a carbon tax and they want an election.
Mr ABBOTT distanced himself from slogans vilifying Ms GILLARD as he met the crowed,
estimated at up to six-thousand, but insisted the carbon tax will kill Australia.
Mr ABBOTT was joined on the podium by Victorian truck driver TROY GROVER LOGAN, who
walked over eight days 368 kilometres from Albury on the New South Wales-Victorian border
to attend the rally.
Ms GILLARD, meanwhile, accuses Mr ABBOTT of failing to tell the crowd that his direct
action plan would cost twice the amount he had stated.
